Hamid Massiha, MD

Over the past two decades, Hamid Massiha, M.D., has emerged as a prominent authority and innovator in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. In 1975, he trained on fellowship at the internationally renowned New York University (NYU), studying there with some of the most distinguished cosmetic surgeons. Dr. Massiha is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of many other professional organizations. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
 
Since 1970, Dr. Massiha has been an annual recipient of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. In 1998, Dr. Massiha received the prestigious Award of Excellence from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He also received a plaque for Appreciation for Contributions in Aesthetic Surgery in both 1998 and 1999.

Dr. Massiha's specialty is aesthetic plastic surgery, and he has published diverse papers and delivered numerous educational presentations in his field. In 1987, Dr. Massiha served as President of Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical Center. Since 1985, he has served three terms as Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department of East Jefferson General Hospital.

Dr. Massiha has gained lots of awards for his out standing performance and he has been a recipient of several awards from the Hispanic community for his contribution as a non-Hispanic, including the Award for Advanced Education, Award of Excellence and best Scientific Exhibit Award, ASAPS- May 1998 and Best Paper Award, Open Approach Rhinoplasty International Society of Clinical Plastic Surgeons and many more.

He is active in a variety of civic and social organizations, including the New Orleans Opera Men's Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. Since 1995, Dr. Massiha has dedicated three weeks out of each year to travel to Europe and Iran to perform numerous charity surgeries. By invitation, he also teaches at major universities during these trips. Of special note is Dr. Massiha's avocation as a sculptor of the human form.
