Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is also called mammoplasty, which involves surgical replacement of an implant behind each breast to increase its volume and enhance its shape. Often, after weight loss, childbirth, or as a result of aging, the breasts lose volume and their shape changes. Breast augmentation can be performed at any age after the breasts are developed.

By inserting an implant behind each breast, surgeons are able to increase a woman's bustline by one or more bra cup sizes. This is one of the most popular plastic surgery techniques in breast augmentation. This surgical technique is over a century years old. For breast augmentation surgery, it is important to know that breast augmentation surgery is not designed to completely change a person's life. By enhancing a person's appearance, breast augmentations will produce a number of positive effects. There are three techniques in breast augmentations viz., inframammary, periareolar, and transaxillary.

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the safest and most efficient surgical procedures in plastic surgery. To examine the effects of breast surgery, an extensive detailing of the steps that patients need to go through before and after breast implants will be given. The first step to obtaining breast implants involves an initial consultation session between patient and a plastic surgeon. The surgeon will instruct the patient about how to prepare for the surgery and also what kind of foods they should avoid and have.

After the surgery has been performed, the patient tends to feel very tired and sore. The next two days after the surgery the patient should be in rest, so it is important that the patient has no commitments from their schedule following breast augmentation surgery.

Several days after the surgery, the patient will need to consult with plastic surgeon to remove the gauze dressings that were applied during the surgery. In many cases, the patient?s are given a surgical bra to aid their recovery. Within ten days, the patient will be relived from the stitches made at time of surgery. It usually takes three to five weeks for the swelling in a patient's breasts to disappear.

In the beginning of breast augmentation surgery, millions of women have enhanced their bodies with silicone and saline implants. Breast augmentation has become one of the most commonly performed cosmetic plastic surgical procedures. Today, women enjoy the benefits of this experience with results that look and feel natural and comfort.
