Laser Technology

Laser is a therapeutic recourse that has experienced a significant increase in its indications. As a matter of fact, a good number of medics are using this technology to treat a great variety of skin problems worldwide. While in general, it is satisfactory that these technologies are within arm?s reach of the wide public, it must be pointed out that the experience of the medic is important; he/she indicates those technologies according to a selective criterion with which they should be applied for the care of a particular patient.

The field of laser surgery changes fast. What could have been indicated for a particular type of skin six or nine months ago, could not be the most correct or appropriate procedure today. It would be inopportune that laser equipment be handled by professionals lacking of knowledge, training, and enough experience, which could bring together a discredit of the method with results inferior to what was wished for.

CO2 laser is used to efficiently remove the surface layer of the skin. By means of the laser, the surgeon can remove with precision stains and imperfections to the correct depth, avoiding that the healthy skin under the surface results injured. The treatment contributes to provide a noticeable improvement in the texture and tone of skin. Injuries such as discolorations, despaired pigmentations, age stains, eye wrinkles, lip wrinkles, wrinkles in wide zones of the face, hands, or body, and even scars can be treated efficiently using this technique. Generally, anesthetic procedures are not required. The swift recovery of the skin renewal procedure is one of the main advantages.

Erbium laser is a tool specifically designed to remove facial lines and wrinkles with moderate depth. Generally, skin slightly turns red and shows a slight tumefaction after the procedure. Recent studies seem to indicate that Erbium laser would stimulate collagen production, favoring restoration of a tenser and softer skin. In the past, the available treatments were chemical peelings, or the dermal abrasion. In the latter, the layers of skin were practically sandpapered. The cold light of the Erbium laser promotes a faster recovery than other methods constituting another important and valuable recourse with which actual technology provides the medical disciplines, to the benefit of the patients.

Laser technology provides a safe and trustworthy way of skin restoration. Skin injured by the sun or age can be treated layer by layer with especially designed lasers. The precision of these lasers allows the surgeon to adapt the degree of the treatment to the needs of each individual.
