Laser Tattoo Removal Information

Why?

Laser tattoo removal allows for the removal of unsightly tattoos that have either not aged well or are no longer wanted. Whether for the purposes of getting a new job, or just to get rid of a design or name that you no longer want on your body, laser tattoo removal can be your effective and relatively pain free answer.

Effectiveness?

Most dermotologists will caution that complete removal of a tattoo can be difficult. It depends on the size, location, age, and color of the particular tattoo. For instance, black tattoos are the easiest to remove as black pigment is dispersed by all forms of light. Older tattoos are generally easier to remove then newer tattoos. And of course smaller tattoos are easier to remove then larger tattoos.

How does it work?

Lasers work by producing pulses of light that pass through the layers of the skin and are absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This fractures the pigment into smaller pieces which are later removed by the bodies immune system. This method takes quite a bit of time for the body to fully remove the tattoo pigment which results in a gradual fading of the tattoo.  It can however take several spaced out sessions to fracture the pigment enough to have the bodies immune system fully remove it.

Is it painful?

Laser tattoo removal should be compaired to getting a tattoo on a scale of pain. Patients who undergo laser treatment generally describe a mild pain that feels almost as if tiny specks of hot grease are hitting your skin. While that might sound painful it's better associated with a mild sunburn.
