Upper Arm Lift

The unsightly sagging skin on the upper arms due to aging, genetics or weight loss, if any of the disorders founded in the patient, has to undergo upper arm lift. The procedure is intended to reduce and eliminate excess skin from the upper arms. The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia. The removal of unwanted skin, an incision is required that runs from near the elbow into the armpit. The incision is placed in the most inconspicuous location like inner arm toward the back, but some scarring will always be visible it cannot be avoided.

An upper arm lift will reduce loose skin around the upper arm. The surgery is a combination of liposuction and skin-lifting performed on the arm. Recent developments include moving the resultant scar from the back of the arm to the inner arm just below the groove made by the lower border of the biceps muscle. These advancements, in conjunction with liposuction of the upper arm, will considerably give long-term results.

Upper arm lift surgery is best suited to people who are in relatively good shape but have loose upper arm skin or a significant amount of upper arm fat that won't respond to dieting and exercise.

Although the procedure is tailored to the patient individual needs, Tumescent Liposuction of the upper arm is first performed through small incisions near the elbow and axilla. This is followed by removing a generous ellipse of tissue from the axillary area. This results in a scar that is well hidden in the axillary fold. If more extensive skin excision is required, an additional wedge of tissue is removed from the inner arm. Deep tissue tightening is performed at this time, followed by closure of the skin and deep tissue in the shape of a T on its side. An elastic bandage or pressure garment is then applied completing the procedure.

This procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment. The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Average cost of this treatment is $3056. This cost does not cover any health insurance or any other facilities.
