Laser Facial Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing, the laser is used in damaged or wrinkled areas in skin, which are removed layer by layer. This is most commonly used procedure to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth surface and the eyes and also effective treatment in facial marks or areas of rough pigmentation. Laser resurfacing is performed on the whole face or in specific regions. The procedure is done in along with another cosmetic operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

Laser resurfacing can profit all men and women of all ages. In laser resurfacing the patient should be relatively healthy, fair, non-oily skin, and has specific objective with regard to desired facial innovation. Resurfacing method is suggested to the patients with lime skin, brown skin or black skin is at increased risk for pigmentation changes.

The person who has extreme wrinkling in the facial skin and other signs of damaged or aging of the skin should be considered for laser facial resurfacing treatment. This surgery is on the surface of wrinkles and other damage caused by sun and aging factors are removed.  It also softens the grooves and deep frown lines in the face and smoother rejuvenated skin surface it also gives a more young looking appearance to the patient.

The procedure also stimulates complete renewal of skin cells by removing the outer layers of the skin and allowing new healthy skin cells to replace them. Laser resurfacing, a CO2 or Erbium laser is used to remove the top layer of skin by vaporizing the superficial cells and tightening the inner collagen.

There are some difficulty that can occur, such as delayed facial redness, permanent alteration in the pigmentation of the face, scarring, infection and reaction to the anesthesia. Patients with olive skin, or dark skin of any race, are at better risk for hyper pigmentation following laser resurfacing. Patients who have taken Accutane for bad skin should to wait at least 12 months prior to any laser procedure.

The skin, which is treated, will be replaced within 5-7 days with new skin. Patient should keep the skin moist to facilitate healing, during this time. The Laser treated areas of the skin will have a variable degree of redness that may take up to 6-8 weeks to resolve, but may be covered with make-up in as early as 7-10 days.
