Nose Surgery Cost

Rhinoplasty is a plastic nose surgery and can be performed under a general anesthetic or with local anesthetic, depending on what the patient and the surgeon prefer. Incisions are made inside the rim of the nostrils. Soft tissues of the nose are then separated from the underlying structures and the cartilage and bone causing the deformity are reshaped.

The exact nature of that sculpting depends on the patient particular problem and should be discussed at the consultation. If the nose is being reduced in size, the nasal bones are carefully fractured toward the conclusion of the procedure. Breathing problems may be improved by a procedure called Septoplasty, in which the obstructions are removed. Another type of soft tissue surgery, alar narrowing, is used to adjust the width of the nostrils.

There are two major ways to perform a rhinoplasty the closed rhinoplasty and the open rhinoplasty technique. The open technique includes an incision across the colummella, the small skin between the two nostrils. The closed technique does not require an external incision, heals more quickly and does not disturb the tissues as much as the open technique.

The cost of surgery depends on the problem and complexity of the surgical sculpture. When calculating the total price for surgery, you will need to consider several additional costs. There is a facility fee and anesthetist charges from either my office or the hospital operating room. You will also need after surgery medication. They do not include charges for the operating room, anesthesia, supplies, implants, overnight stay etc. Their operating room charges are very reasonable. Costs are different around the country, and each surgeon's fees may differ. Secondary surgery from other doctor's operations can be more difficult. They have posted prices as a guide about average operations. Current charges may vary. After better understanding the patient needs, they can better help the patient with specific costs.

The Rhinoplasty costs vary, depending on the doctor, the location, technique used and the difficulty of the specific case. The national average of 1999 surgeon fees for rhinoplasty was $3,398.The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A regional average in New England states is $3,991. In Middle Atlantic state it costs up to $3,060, north central states $3,348, south central states $3,103 and mountain/Pacific states $3,416. These fees do not include anesthesia, operating room facility, hospital stay and other related expenses.
