Browlift

A Browlift is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired. In a Browlift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. The surgeon may use the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is hidden behind the hairline or it may be performed with the use of an endoscope. Both techniques yield similar results in smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance.

In a browlift procedure, the forehead's muscles and tissues are reconstructed and it will become tighter. The frowning and drooping are removed and replaced with a smooth forehead, raised eyebrows, and less frown lines. The results are often dramatic and can take many years off of the patient?s facial appearance. The traditional procedure requires large incisions hidden in the hairline while the newer procedures only require a few small incisions and some endoscopic probes.

The surgeon will give the specific instructions to prepare for the procedure including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking and avoiding certain vitamins and medications. The patient?s hair is very short and may wish to let it grow out before surgery, so that it's long enough to hide the scars while they heal. A browlift can now be performed through small incisions behind the hairline using a special technique known as the Endoscopic. It may depend on the individual needs; a browlift can be performed alone or in conjunction with a facelift or eyelid surgery. A well-defined brow can be a striking trait that will draw attention to the eyes.

The most common candidate for browlifts is men and women with ages above 40 and below 60 years. It can apply to anyone who has developed frown lines from intense stress or muscle activity. Patients who are bald, who have a receding hairline, or who have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for forehead lift. The surgeon will simply alter the opened location or perform a more conservative operation.

A forehead lift can enhance the appearance and self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change the looks to match ideal or cause other people to treat differently. An appropriate consultation is needed before deciding to undergo surgery.
